Article: KB-WTXCUSTOMBAR Module: WordTricks.DOT Build: 9.2.0.xxx and Later Summary By default, WordTricks uses an expandable interactive button bar named "WordTricks®" stored in the WordTricks.DOT template. However, for some users (or perhaps your whole firm) it is desirable to use a button bar of your own design. WordTricks was designed with this in mind, and the follwoing will guide you through the process. Step 1. Create a New "WordTricks" Button Bar Start MS Word and from the menu select Tools > Customize > ToolBars TAB.
Then create a new Button Bar named "WordTricks" paying close attention to the spelling and capitalization.
Note that it will (by default) be stored in the user's Normal.dot template. Leave the "Customize" Dialog open as you edit your new button-bar. Drag and drop buttons from the existing "WordTricks®" button-bar to your newly created "WordTricks" button-bar.
When your new button bar looks the way you like, close the "Customize" dialog and Exit MS Word. Step 2. Turn Off the "Expanded Bar" Feature A Windows Registry setting controls whether WordTricks will engage the "WordTricks®" button bar for a particular user. Thus, this feature must be turned off in order to use a "WordTricks" bar of your own. Download and run (Merge) the registry file: http://www.wordtricks.net/Downloads/02_Regs/UseExpandedWTXBarOFF.reg Step 3. Position Your Button-Bar Start MS Word again. Note that the "WordTricks®" button bar is no longer visible, but your newly created "WordTricks" button-bar is visible. Now position the new button-bar where you would like. Note: For purposes of making this change to all users, this button bar may be moved from this user's Normal.DOT template to the Firm.DOT template, and the registry change above made on all workstations. .
