The WordTricks program Ctx_Sync.exe handles the synchronization of contact information between various Contact Management packages and WordTricks. This article pertains to it's use only for MS Exchange and Outlook.

New "Public Folders" Feature

Starting with build 9.0.0.230 and later a new feature was added to allow for the synchroniztion of Public contact folders.

How does it work?

When Contax Synchronization is running, the CTX_Sync icon is displayed in the System Tray:

Click the CTX_Sync icon to display the options menu:

By default the "Include Public Folders" option is unchecked. Check the item if you wish to include them:

Note the item "Include Public Folders" is checked, indicating that public folders will be included at the next rebuild.

Note: Checking the item does not automatically include public folders. It simply means that public folders will be included as a choice when your contax database is rebuilt.

Rebuild After Changing the Option

After changing this option, you Must Rebuild your Contax. Click the tray icon and choose the "Rebuild Now" option.

This displays the Folder Selection dialog similar to:

Note that there are two public folders included in this list. One is named "Bill's Contacts" and the other is a sub-folder of "Bill's Contacts" named "Christmas List."

Select (Check) the contact folders in the order you would like for them to appear.

Important Note: Including Public Folders, Delays the Process of scanning for contact folders. To minimize this delay, the public folders are scanned to four levels deep.

Public Folders are Limited to Four Levels Deep

In the following example there are 5 levels in this public folder:

For this reason, the folder named "Cards Only" cannot be synchronized with WordTricks. However, the other folders may be synchronized. The "Cards Only" folder will simply be ignored.

Import Note: Be sure to organize your Public Folders so that they are limited to 4 levels deep.
