Inserting Special Symbols
MS Word offers a wide variety symbols and special characters via the Word "Insert Symbol" feature. Unfortunately it requires several steps that are accessible only from the mouse.
So for the more commonly used symbols, WordTricks provides a much simpler process that can be done with two keystrokes, or two mouse clicks.
To insert a symbol at the insertion point follow these steps:
![]()
Click the Special Symbol![]()
![]()
button or use ALT + S.
A list of symbols, customized for your industry, appears:

![]()
Click on the button (on the left) containing the symbol you wish to insert, or use the keystroke to the right of the name.
For example to insert a section symbol the keystrokes
would be: ALT + S then S and a paragraph symbol would be ALT
+ S then P.
For less frequently used symbols, click the More Symbols![]()
![]()
button to execute Word's "Insert Symbol" feature.
