FormatingTools

WordTricks offers a variety of indenting and formatting tools to ease the production and editing of documents from the WordTricksToolbar.

Clicking the(Formatting) pop-down shows the following features:

First Line Indent

A First Line Indent indents only the first line of a paragraph.

Example of a First Line Indent:

To make a first line indent use the following steps:

Place your insertion point anywhere within the paragraph and click on the Increase Indentbutton or use SHIFT + ALT + T. You can click this button more than once.

To move the start of the top line to the left, use the First Line Unindentbutton or SHIFT + ALT + U.

Note: Pressing the Unindent button on an unindented paragraph, will result in a hanging indent.

Left Right Indent

Left Right indenting moves both the left and right margins of the document inward when you press the Increase Left Right Indentbutton or use SHIFT + ALT + R. The insertion point should be placed in the paragraph you wish to indent. Left Right indenting can be used multiple times.

The paragraph can be expanded on both the left and right margin each time you click the Decrease Left Right Indentbutton or use CTRL + ALT + R.

Note: It is possible to expand your paragraph beyond the bounds of the margins, or even beyond the edges of the document.

Hanging Indent

A hanging indent is an indentation in which every line in a paragraph is indented except for the first line.

For Example:

To create a hanging indent:

Click on the Hanging Indentbutton or use CTRL + T.
Repeating this step will increase the indentation.

To move the indented lines back to the left:

Click the Unhangbutton or press CTRL + ALT + T.

Flush Right

Unlike the other indentation styles, Flush Right does not work from anywhere within the paragraph. You must first put your insertion point to the left of the text you wish to make flush with the right margin of the document.

You may either move an entire line to the right, or may split text at the insertion point so that everything after the insertion point moves to the right, and everything to the left remains where it is.

To make text Flush Right:

Place your insertion point. Then click on the Flush Rightbutton or use ALT + RIGHTARROW.

To make text Flush Right with Dot Leaders

(To place dots between the insertion point and the text being moved):

Click the Flush Right Dot Leaderbutton or press ALT + PERIOD (.).

To remove Flush Right:

Click the No Flush Rightbutton or SHIFT + ALT + K.

The Flush right buttons will have the following effects:

No Flush

Flush- Insertion point at beginning of line

Flush - Insertion point in middle of line

Flush with Dot Leader- Insertion point at beginning of line

Flush with Dot Leader- Insertion point at end of line

Unindented Paragraph

An unindented paragraph has no individual line formatting and extends to the right and left margins in both directions.

For example:

Increase Space After This Paragraph

To increase the space after a paragraph (or selected paragraphs), click the(Add Space After) button 1 time for an additional 3 points spacing after.

Example: If a paragraph has a default of 12 points spacing after, clicking this button will change it to 15 points after.

For more space after, simpy click the button multiple times.

Decrease Space After This Paragraph

To decrease the space after a paragraph (or selected paragraphs), click the(Decrease Space After) button. Like the "Add Space After" button, each click represents 3 points.
