Fingertip Forms

Fingertip Forms provide an easy way to use your firm's templates for envelopes, labels, and documents. Fingertip Forms uses WordTricks in conjunction with MS Word's native document merging functions. It can be used either with merge codes intact, to form blank merge documents, or to create labels and envelopes from WordTricks Contax list.

Fingertip Forms can be launched from within the Contax Manager screen or from the WordTricks toolbar or by pressing SHIFT + CTL + F.

Categories

There are four categories of templates that Fingertip Forms can use. The following is a description and definition of each

1. Envelopes button - Used to address firm's envelopes or standard envelopes.

2. Labels button - Firm templates that can be used on any standard sized label.

3. Standard Document Templates button - 8.5 x 11 Templates that are used by merge functions firm wide.

4. Personal Documents Templates button - 8.5 x 11 Templates using merge functions developed for use by a single author.

Using Fingertip Forms from Within Contax

For general information using Contax, See Managing Contacts with Contax.

To use the Fingertip Forms from within Contax:

Open the Contax manager by clicking on the ContaX button on the WordTricks toolbar and choosing the Contax Selection button from the drop-down list.

The Contax dialog box appears:

Hold the CTRL button on the keyboard while clicking on the contacts to be merged into the template.

Choose the category (Envelope, Label, Firm, or Personal Documents) of the template to be used.

A dialog box will open displaying a list of all templates of the selected category, such as the Standandard NumeEnvelope template below.

Click the OK button. The selected template will automatically be merged with your selected contacts into a new document.

Using Fingertip Forms from the Toolbar

At times you may want to merge a template with data that is not in your contact manager, (e.g. from a table or database). Alternately, you may want to generate a blank template in which you type information directly. Both functions are handled by Fingertip Forms.

To use Fingertip Forms without using information from the contact manager:

Click the QlickForms button from the WordTricks toolbar.

The QlickForms/QlickFill options are listed below:

Launch Fingertip Forms by clicking on the Fingertip Forms button or by using SHIFT + CTRL + F.

The Fingertip Dialog box will appear:

If you are planning to merge from another table, uncheck the Strip Merge Codes check box.

If you want a blank template, leave it checked.

Choose the category (Envelope, Label, Firm, or Personal Documents) of the template to be used.

A dialog box will open displaying a list of all templates of the selected category. Choose the desired template, such as the Label below.

Click the OK button. The appropriate template will appear, with or without merge codes, depending on your selection in Step 2.

If you are working in a template without merge codes, type the desired information into the template.

If you are working in a template with merge codes, use MS Words Merge functions to associate your data source with this template. This is accomplished under Word's Mail Merge Wizard or Mail Merge Helper.
