Choosing Schemes

Documents may or may not have existing outline lists within them. If they do, the ListTricks Scheme button will launch the Scheme Pop-Up List.

The Scheme Pop-Up List (as shown below) allows the selection of one of the existing lists, or creation of a new numbering scheme.

For documents without an existing list, the Scheme Selection screen is presented (as shown below):

Group Organization

Notice the pop-down menu in the upper right of the Scheme Selection screen. ListTricks schemes are organized by groups.

The default group is Firm-Wide Schemes. You may wish to select other groups to see how your schemes are organized.

Numbering Patterns

Schemes are independent of the numbering pattern used but are defaulted to an appropriate pattern.

Alternate patterns may also be chosen. Try selecting other patterns to see the effect in the preview window.

Forced Line Spacing,Text Alignment & TOC

Schemes typically use the underlying line spacing characteristics in your document, but not always. They may, for example, have double line spacing on level one and full justification on level two, while having single line spacing and left justification on all other levels.

You may however, set the text justification by selecting one of the forced options, or force the line spacing for all levels to be single, 1.5, or double space. You may also check the TOC box to force the level to reference for TOC.

System and Personal Schemes

Initially, the schemes that are used are all system numbering schemes, which is indicated by the foreground System Schemes tab.

As you use ListTricks and modify schemes, they are stored in your personal schemes.

Clicking the Personal Schemes tab will change the list of schemes from system schemes to your personal schemes and set the Personal Schemes tab in the foreground.

You can return to the system schemes by clicking the "System Schemes" tab.
